Rhythm Bucket Brigade is a Pirate Game Jam 14 Submission where the Theme was "Its Spreading".

If you have trouble running it through Itch.io I also pushed it to my own site. https://stevesgames.com/play/Rhythm-Bucket-Brigade

Gameplay:

You control the active lime-green Fireman with a Yellow Arrow. Every correct input will increment your control to the next Fireman. Completed Fireman have a Cyan arrow and will keep sending the inputs you gave them. The goal is to get all Firemen working together to successfully put out the Fire. If you miss a beat all buckets will spill and you must start over.

Keyboard Mode: You must hit the proper direction key (Arrows or WASD) on the down beats to move to the next fireman.

Mobile Mode: You must tap the screen or press Any Arrow or WASD or Space button on the beat, the direction doesn't matter since this mode is designed for mobile touch devices, or for anyone looking for a more chill game experience.

I really hope you enjoy, I had a really fun time making it and if anyone enjoys playing it half of much as I have its been well worth it!

Loved the concept. Music reminded me of Lemings haha. The input were not quite on beat i think, or maybe it was just me, i had to play on easy, made it to the hourglass shape stage. Either way, cool demo, would love to see a full fleshed out version of this. If you need a musician, i'm up to the task.

Hi, thanks for the feedback and its very high praise from someone who writes music that you liked it.

I agree, I think my mixing on the drums was off especially for a rhythm game that only has down beats implemented, I needed to make the kick and the snare pop more and have the other parts of the beat fade out to keep you focused on the right aspects. As well as some kind of visual indicator whether you were early or late as others have mentioned.

That is cool that you write music. I will take a look at your profile on itch, but also feel free to link me anything you are wanting to share back on this thread.

Thanks very much for playing!

Have a great day.

The sound design is fantastic! I really enjoyed the concept. I was confused because I thought I had to keep repeating it but after the first few levels understood that it was just linear. I also wasn't quite sure where the sweet spot was for the timing. Really fun game though, was so satisfying to hit the beats.

Thanks so much, I wrote the song 2 days before the jam ended and then integrated everything the day before. I was really cutting it close!

Agree 100% there needs to be better indicators for whether your timing is early or late. I will definitely add this.

Really enjoyed the game. I loved the rhythm that need to be achieved and the direction one needs to play.

I'm glad you had fun!

It was a marathon to make it but its nice to see so many people have a good time, makes it all worth it for sure!

I loved it. Also the sound playing whenever you successfully pass the bucket to a new guy is a really nice detail.

I'm glad you noticed, that was a last minute addition before the deadline, it plays up and down the key scale for the song.

Thanks for the positive feedback! It really brightens my day to know people are having fun with it 😄.

Super fun game! I love the music and it's super cool to watch them put out the fire once you beat a level, especially in later levels.

Also, I'm not sure if this is intended or not, but I noticed that the firemen succeed in passing the bucket regardless of which arrow key you press. I was expecting that you had to press a different arrow based on where they were pointing.

I would also suggest that instead of restarting the whole level on a missed beat, it would go back by 1 fireman. It can be frustrating having to restart an entire level later on when the levels get longer.

Regardless, I had a lot of fun playing this! Great work!

Hey, Thanks! You might have been on Mobile Mode in the top right on the start screen? That is what allows you to do beats only and not worry about the direction, if you choose keyboard mode on the left it should offer a better challenge.

I appreciate your feedback, you are very kind!
